Methods & techniques
GIM Customized Innovation Research involves selecting the best workshops, methods, and processes from our wide portfolio to suit the individual client. All approaches are chosen in close cooperation with you, our client, following the alignment process on topic, targets, and desired outcome of the innovation project.
Here are some examples of our workshop and process formats:
- Co-Creation (online/offline): 1-day workshops or 1–2-week online communities where you and your customers work together to create new ideas.
- Innovation and Creative Workshops: 1–2-day workshops in special locations, either with you or select end customers. Recruitment of lead users, experts, semi-professionals, and change agents.
- Vision Labs: Multi-phase think tanks with select visionary experts to develop long-term strategies, mostly used in the area of capital goods.
- Customer Journeys: Recreating the complex decision-making process in purchasing products or services, from inspiration to actual purchase. Special focus on the process of collecting information. Use of creative techniques such as role-plays or simulations to re-enact the purchasing experience.
- Wargaming and arena sessions: Workshops involving role-plays to understand threats, dangers, adversaries and scenarios to help clients develop counter-strategies and protective measures.
- From insight to innovation: Good ideas are not just innovative, they take into account important consumer insights. An insight and innovation process connecting learnings and experience gathered in consumer immersions organized for clients with new ideas in 1-2-day sessions or several shorter sessions.
Expert councils: Panels of experts that meet every six months and involve clients where they discuss overall strategy rather than concrete topics.
We often invite professional illustrators to our workshops:
They follow the discussions and brainstorming sessions and visualize content and ideas. These illustrations then serve both as catalysts for further ideas and visual workshop libraries making ideas tangible and thus, giving our clients something to work from.
