Content Analysis
Description and weighting of the contents of texts or image documents with the purpose of evaluating and, if needed, measuring the thematic content (terms, topics, messages). This is why content analyses are often quantitative analyses. Content analyses also include semantic analyses which not only document terms and topics, but also identify and measure more complex messages
Method
Initial (inductive) collecting of terms, topics, messages followed by a qualitative description or quantitative measuring of the texts, or image documents, with the help of a code plan created on the basis of the initial collection. In case of smaller amounts of texts, the analysis is conducted manually. For larger amounts of texts, automated procedures are used, including the automated coding. It is a dynamic system based on machine learning.
